Description

U.S. agriculture and rural life underwent a tremendous transformation in the 20th century. Up to and including the early 20th century, agriculture was incredibly labor intensive. It took place on many small, diversified farms in rural areas and its intent was not only in pursuit of profit but also to sustain the family. It was not uncommon for generations to reside on the family farm and both live and work on the property.

In the second half of the 20th century and continuing into the 21st century, automation has allowed for greater productivity on smaller land masses. As such, ag production has become concentrated on a smaller number of large, specialized farms in rural areas where, today, less than a fourth of the U.S. population lives.

Still, most farms in the U.S. today would be considered small or hobby farms. This presentation is designed as an overview of the ISO Farm Property program, that, when understood and properly used, can afford many of the vital coverages necessary to finance the risk of the small or hobby farmer.
